Thunder Bay Hostel is located on an ancient delta of the Mackenzie River. The grounds are forested with pines and spruces on a rocky outcrop.
There are several beaver dams within a km radius of the hostel, bears at the local dump (2 km) and other wild animals: such as raccoon, skunk, porcupine, deer, lynx, coyote and wolf in the area.
The main attractions close by are Mackenzie Point, Mackenzie River (swimming), Lake Superior (swimming, cross-country skiing in season) and Silver Harbour Park (rock climbing).
This is the closest hostel to Ouimet Canyon and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park,.
US visitors should change money at a bank before coming to hostel. No visa, mastercard, interac.ATM available at Mackenzie Inn ( 1 km).

Directions:
The Greyhound bus will drop you off at the highway and pick you up at Mackenzie Station Road, 1 km from the hostel upon request. Cyclists should use Lakeshore Drive (there are no hills). |
