Dartmoor Expedition Centre has two 300-year-old barn bunkhouses with cobbled floors and thick granite walls.
Simple but comfortable accommodation for groups of 4+ only, with bunk beds and a wood burning stove.
Radiant heaters (two in each area) and night storage heating (one in each barn). Kitchen area equipped with fridge, water heater, electric stoves and kettles.
All crockery and pans provided, and there is freezer space available.
Electric appliances are coin operated (£1 coins). Solar hot water system for free showers in wash rooms. House Barn has the living area downstairs and upstairs sleeps 9 plus 5 in an inner cubicle. Gate Barn sleeps 11 downstairs and 10 upstairs.
There are two upgraded rooms (1 double, 1 twin).
Beds provided with sheet/pillow/pillowcase, sleeping bags needed.

Newton Abbot is the nearest train station. In summer there are buses to Widecombe (1.5 miles from hostel). Taxi fare from station £30. |

Directions:
GR 700 764. Come down Widecombe Hill into the village. Turn right 200yds after school and travel up a steep hill past Southcombe onto the open moor. Continue for one mile until you reach crossroads. Turn right and take first left after 400yds. Hostel is 200yds on left. |
