Dog Friendly Accommodation

Dog Friendly Accommodation

Joiners Shop Bunkhouse, Northumberland

Some Independent Hostels provide perfect accommodation for dog friendly holidays and these are listed at the bottom of this feature.  Not only are the hostels in great rural locations ideal for walks and wild runs, but they also provide accommodation for periods as short as one night, so are ideal for a stop-over on a long journey.

Blackwater Hostel, Kinlochleven

Always pre-arrange your visit and then you will be sure your dogs will be welcomed (as long as they are well behaved and you clean up after them).  Some hostels are on farms where livestock and farm dogs are around, so it is worth checking if you dog needs to be kept on a lead when outside the building.

Deepdale Backpackers in Norfolk has a dog friendly room in the hostel and a dog friendly Tipi (see photo below which is in North Norfolk not the North Pole).  Dogs are invited to stay and Deepdale is the home of dog friendly holiday accommodation.  The Deepdale Backpackers website, which can be reached via the link on the hostel list below) have a dog friendly guide to the area including dog friendly pub, dog friendly cafes and dog friendly beaches as well as ideas for walks.  Deepdales puppy (Merlin) and Border-Collie (Jack) work with the staff everyday and can be seen 'doing the rounds' on site.

Pentre Bach Camping Barn in Snowdonia is eight minutes walk from a dog friendly local which welcomes dogs at the bar.  There is a sheepdog trainer next door and you can often see him training collies.  The accommodation is dog friendly and there is a 250 yrd track to the barn with grassy areas all the way down, ideal for constitutional walks.

Here is a list of the accommodation in this guide which take dogs.  Click on the hostel name to go to the full accommodation feature, where you can use the google link (below photo) to see the exact location of the accommodation and follow the link to the hostels own website for more information on their dogs policy.
